Puerto Rico was the first place I ever traveled to by plane. With it being my first time at such high altitude, I passed out as soon as we reached the clouds. Fast forward a few hours, we landed and threw on our shades and sun dresses. We stayed at the La Concha Resort which was close to the crowd, but not too far away from the excursions. This was my first time planning a trip for my family, so I did A LOT of research to make sure our itinerary was full of fun and/or relaxing activities.
Bio bay kayaking--OH HELL NO. Kayaking is tough but kayaking in the dark is even more tough. People in new relationships or are impatient, stay away. Being both directionally impaired, my sister and I had such a tough time. We started out at the dock and the whole group kayaked towards the bay. Once we reached the bay, all conversations were put on hold, the silence was almost deafening. I'm not going to ruin the surprise of what happens when you get to the bay, but the scene was almost similar to the scene in The Little Mermaid when Eric and Ariel almost kissed, it felt magical. After that moment, we made our way back to the dock, it was another stressful 15 minutes. How my sister and I stepped off that kayak with blisters and scratches still befuddles me.
Yucatan Forest--being from the city, it was nice to breathe in nature and see trees other than the ones in central park. The coolest thing was smelling the leaves that Chanel uses to create their scent.
Old San Juan--so much history and culture in this little city. We ate lunch at Old San Juan and filled our stomachs with flavorful food and multiple servings of mojitos before exploring every corner.
On the last day, we stayed at the beach, absorbed sun rays, ate and swam. Other than the kayaking, this trip was perfect.
